Ultimatum to allotment holders
ALLOTMENT holders have been given an ultimatum in order to make sure everyone gets an opportunity to have their own patch.
Tony Colbourne, a Harwich town councillor and chairman of the allotment committee, said the waiting list for plots in various locations in the Dovercourt and Harwich area had gone down - but those who already had one need to ensure they use their land.
Mr Colbourne said: "If people are not using their allotment to the full capacity we are giving them the chance to give away half their allotment to other people, or, if they are not using any of it, the assistant clerk at the town council will write to them."
He added: "We want as many people as possible to get the chance to own their own allotment."
