Travellers' site scheme: keep calm plea by police
POLICE have appealed for calm amid a growing row over controversial plans for a travellers' site.
About 150 people packed into a public meeting to discuss proposals for the site at Crockleford Heath, near Ardleigh.
The land is on the outskirts of the Tendring district, just a mile from Colchester.
Furious residents claim the site will ruin a picturesque part of the countryside and send the value of their homes plummeting.
Emotions were running high at the meeting at Ardleigh village hall, where police appealed for calm as the row spirals.
