Crowds flock to Maldon carnival
CARNIVAL queens, fun and games were the order of the day in Maldon.
The town's annual carnival drew the crowds despite the unpredictable weather on Saturday, August 2.
John Haylock, carnival committee chairman, said hundreds of people turned up to see the special day go with a swing.
Carnival day kicked off with the Grand Procession down the High Street which was watched by large crowds.
Then the fun started at Promenade Park with children's entertainment, stalls, music, fun, games and competitions.
Mr Haylock said: "Early indications show we did very well indeed.
"I think the number of people who came to watch the procession on the day was down on previous years but that was probably down to the changeable weather.
"A lot of visitors came to the Prom, though, and they all seemed to have a good time.
"One of the highlights was the English Mongrel Dog Show which I would recommend for all community events like the carnival as it was fantastic.
"The comments we had from the public were very good - lots of them said it was a lovely carnival."
