Ipswich friendly set for 7.45pm kickoff at Melbourne
Ipswich Town will be the first opponents to send a side to face Jeff King's new-look Clarets at Melbourne in the build-up to City's first ever season in the Blue Square South.
Adults can gain terrace access for the reduced cost of £7 for the Clarets' first four home warm-up fixtures - against Ipswich Town, Colchester United, Wycombe Wanderers and Southend United, with concessions gaining admission for £2.
All home 2008/09 friendlies will benefit from "Kids for a Quid" status, meaning under-16s accompanied by adults get in for just one pound. The usual upgrade to Main Stand seating can be added for an extra pound.
City's pre-season line-up currently appears as follows:
TODAY, 16th July, IPSWICH TOWN, Home, 7:45pm
Friday 18th July, Canvey Island, Away, 7:45pm
Wednesday 23rd July, Colchester Utd, Home, 7:45pm
Saturday 26th July, WYCOMBE WANDERERS, Home, 3:00pm
Monday 28th July, SOUTHEND UTD, Home, 7:45pm
Saturday 2nd August, HISTON, Home, 3pm
Monday 4th August, Concord Rangers, Away, 7:45pm
Saturday 9th August, Blue Square South Season Begins
Last season, on Wednesday July 19, a last-gasp Sammy Moore strike prevented the Clarets earning a creditable win in our respective friendly as the spoils were shared in a 2-2 draw.
Chelmsford took a first-half two-goal lead through Kezie Ibe and Ben Sedgemore but the young forward powered skilfully home from 25 yards late on, to add to an own goal that rescued a draw.
The visiting Blues sent a talented side to Melbourne with Fabian Wilnis, Richard Naylor and Sylvain Legwinki amongst the First Teamers on show.
