Writtle BC win over Maldon in constant rain
On Wednesday, 9 July Writtle men's A team played Maldon A team in very challenging conditions. Despite the constant rain and gloomy light both teams managed to perform well and remained competitive throughout this close game.
Skip Mike Fell's rink started well and were 12 shots to 5 shots at the seventh end. Maldon continued to press hard but Fell's team just managed to run out winners at 18 shots to 17.
It was another close game on skip Ian Smith's rink where Writtle took an early lead but were caught by Maldon who took the lead on the 14th end. Writtle kept their nerve and were rewarded with a 16 shots to 13 win.
Skip Derek Cook's rink also took an early lead and managed to maintain their form closing out the game and winning by 18 shots to 8.
This win gives Writtle much needed maximum league points.
