Chelmsford BC in Writtle Hospital Cup semis

In the long-established Writtle Hospital Cup, organised by the Writtle Bowling Club, Chelmsford Bowling Club met Tillingham BC at West Field, Tillingham in a quarter-final clash.

Played as three mixed rinks with the overall score to determine the winner, the Chelmsford rinks made a solid start to their game on unfamiliar turf.

The Tillingham green is much improved from previous years, which created good bowling conditions for both teams.

Chelmsford were always in a slender lead and finished with a six-shot overall victory over their hosts.

The rinks scores were - John Caton 22 Alfie Burton 19, Adrian Thomas 12 Rene Wells 25, Maureen Parris 26 Steve Thrumble 10; Chelmsford 60 Tillingham 54.

Chelmsford now travel to lake Meadows, Billericay, to meet Billericay BC in the sem-final, with the winners going forward to the final to be played at the Writtle BC.

All proceeds from this year's grand draw will be donated to Little Haven's Children's Hospice.
