Free tennis in Tiptree

YOUNG people in Tiptree can enjoy free tennis court hire through the summer holidays.

Tiptree Sports Centre - and other borough council facilities across Colchester - have set up a scheme called the Tennis Mad Schools Passport for people aged between five and 18.

The passport offers 30 minutes' use of the tennis court at Tiptree and othe other free of charge.

Peter Richmond, tennis development officer at Colchester Tennis Centre, explained: "The scheme is designed to encourage participation in the sport and make clean, safe, staffed tennis courts available to young people for free.

"In the long term it's hoped the number of young people playing tennis within the borough will increase as a result of better accessibility to sport at a young age."

So whether you're working on technique, improving your backhand or just enjoying a knockabout with friends, free tennis is the answer.

To get a Tennis Mad Passport, young people 18 or below in full time education simply meed tp complete a booking form at Tiptree Sports Centre.

The Tiptree court is available from noon until 2pm, Monday to Friday, until school restarts.
