Burnham Hillside Bowls take on Grays Town BC
It was a quiet week for Burnham Hillside Bowls Club, with only one friendly played.
On Saturday July 19, ten members of Grays Town Bowls Club visited the Hillsiders to take part in a three-rink mixed match. Tom Osborn and Ann Smits of Burnham "volunteered" to play for the visitors, who did not have enough players to make up three rinks.
The match was closely contested throughout the afternoon. Burnham eventually lost on two rinks but had enough shots in hand on the third rink to be the match winners (56-50).
Rink results (Burnham names first) were as follows: K Coles, D Herrington, L Hyam, R Macdonald (20), T Osborn, C Singer, H Williamson, S Smith (21); P Blunden, E Macdonald, I Gee, M Filtness (25), P Singer, M Fuller, L Fox, D Fox (8); M Wasson, A-M Edge, T Shelley, D Gendreau (11), A Smits, M Tucker, M Packer, B Springham (21).
