SCHOOL children made a splash at an annual swimming gala.
The Dengie Hundred Primary Schools swimming gala was recently held at the Sudmunstra Swimming Pool, in Burnham Road, Southminster, to mark the end of the school term.
This year saw eight primary schools take part in the event.
Amanda Austin, pool co-ordinator at Sudmunstra said: "The event saw a high standard of individual competitive stroke races together with the fun and competitive relay events.
"All heats were very close in ability and it was only towards the end that Purleigh took the lead and won the Gala over Burnham County."
At the end of the events Karen Harden, headteacher of Southminster Primary, presented the gala cup and team awards.
Results: 1st Purleigh (134); 2nd Burnham County (98); 3rd St.Nicholas Tillingham (90), 4th St.Cedd's Bradwell (89),
5th St.Mary's Burnham (71), 6th Southminster (55), 7th Maylandsea (50), 8th Latchingdon (37)
