Hillsiders take title for first time since 1996
On Sunday July 20, several ladies from Burnham Hillside Bowls Club played in the DHBA Ladies Invitation Triples Competition, held at Tillingham Bowls Club.
The winners were Margaret Filtness, Janet Gurton and Maureen Rooks, the first win for a team from Burnham in the competition since 1996.
On Wednesday evening the Hillsiders' B team lost away to Stock Bowls Club B in the first round of the League (Marconi) Cup competition. At home, Burnham A beat PML Bowls Club A in the first round of the Atkinson Shield competition.
Burnham were host to three mixed rinks from Billericay Bowls Club on Thursday evening, in the Writtle Hospital Cup competition. Burnham won on two rinks, but lost on aggregate.
On Saturday, PML Bowls Club members who travelled to Burnham lost in the friendly match of mixed triples (102- 63).
