Tough running for Tiptree’s Ted Skinner in Denmark

Tiptree Road Runner Ted Skinner travelled to the island of Borholm in Denmark and took part in a series of five races over the course of a week.

In the opening 10K road race he ran 42:01, not far from his personal best, but the going got tougher as the week went on. In the 5.8K race along the beach, which finished with a final 1.5 kilometres through sand dunes, he ran 28:51.

In the 7.8K multi-terrain race, he finished in 34:43 and followed that up with a hilly 8.6K race, more suitable for mountain goats, finishing in 41:53. Ted completed the week with another 10K race.

Closer to home, in the 6.2-mile Shilly Shally trail race at Debden, Roger Duffield finished in 61:27 and was the first V65. Later, Duffield took part in the Boxted 10K road race, one of the toughest races he has run, with the first 6K almost continuously uphill. He finished in ninth on 50:13 and was again the first V60.

Simon Morgan travelled to Luton for the Eastern Vets 10K championship. He found the three-lap race very tough in high temperatures and windless conditions, but finished in 43:00, despite getting dehydrated on the third lap.
