Southminster netball side seeks new players
A NEW netball team hopes to encourage sports participation in the Dengie Peninsula.
Blackwater Diamonds Netball Club, based in Southminster, is new to the town and looking for new members.
The team, sponsored by Zara Indian Cuisine in Mayland, is made up of a group of friends aged between 23 and 46 who all share a love of the sport.
Martine Saunderson, team captain, said all abilities are welcome to go along to training sessions. She added: "Even if someone just wants to come and have a run around, they can - the more, the merrier.
"We can do more in training if there are more of us. It keeps us fit but we have a laugh as well.
"We would like to let people know we're here and that we'd like more members - we want to start a second team if we can."
The women train every Tuesday at the King George V playing fields in Station Road, Southminster, from 7.30pm to 9pm. For more information call Martine on 07967 031670.
