Forrester Park GC sponsored holes bring charity cash
The Forrester Park ladies played a charity event recently where every hole was generously sponsored by members of the ladies' section.
The competition was won by Irene Hoffman with 38 points. Margaret Grange beat Rosemary Garrod on countback for second place, both scoring 37 points.
The main winner, however, was the Cystic Fibrosis charity, to the tune of £302.
The vets and the men played their respective August medals and, with the course in fine condition, scores were very good.
The winner of the gold division in the vets' competition was Roland Hughes with net 67, beating Ken Diddams, who has returned to the club after a number of years away, by two shots.
Mike Vass was one of a cluster of players scoring net 64 and won the silver division on countback from Stan Staines. Chris Morris, who only recently qualified to play for the vets, took the bronze division also with net 64, beating Ron Oxlade on countback.
In the men's August medal there was also some work for the handicap secretary as, in the gold division, Jamie Hughes scored a net 66, with Bryan Bowring close behind with net 67.
Danny Harrington won the silver division with net 68, with Robert Goodwin in second place with net 69. In the bronze division Keith Whipp beat Jim Sadler on countback for the premier place, with net 66.
