 |
| Off road: Kevin Bownes at Brandon Forest in one of three successful trail races |
Tiptree Road Runner Laura Shewbridge continued her great run of form to finish second lady and 35th overall with a time of 33:27 in the five-mile Wibbly Wobbly Log Jog in Brandon Forest.
The race is entirely off-road, on an undulating course that includes long stretches of narrow, twisting mountain bike tracks and some demanding climbs. Jim Slater's run of 36:38 gave him second place in the V60 category. Darren Foy was next home for the club in 37:23, followed by Kevin Bownes in 37:37.
Carolyn Bownes finished in 41:18 with Barry Dobson just behind in 41:19. Ian Linton ran 42:14 with Carol Lodge completing the Tiptree squad in 54:24.
The first event of the Tour of Terling was an 8.5-mile trail race. Kevin Bownes and Jim Slater were first home for the club in 85:35, followed by Jamie Fairfull in 87:55. Roger Duffield finished in 94:59, with Carolyn Bownes and Barry Dobson completing the course in 107:10.
Earlier, in the seven-mile Black, White and Green Trail, Kevin Bownes led the club home, finishing in 68:50 with Roger Duffield on 69:07. Barry Dobson and Carolyn Bownes completed the course in 85:40.
