Gurton, Sutton, Perrin and Pinch take Sid Hull trophy

On the afternoon of Wednesday July 30, Burnham Hillside Bowls Club ladies played host to Tillingham Bowls Club ladies in a three-rink, friendly triples match.

The Tillingham ladies were out-bowled as the Burnham ladies found the home green to their liking. The final score was Burnham 61 Tillingham 32.

Members of Maldon Bowls Club were at Burnham on Saturday August 2, to take on the Hillsiders in a mixed five-rink, friendly triples match.

The Burnham side managed to win on three rinks, but lost on aggregate (80-83).

On Sunday August 3, 12 Hillside teams took part in the annual competition for the Sid Hull Fours trophy. After playing three games of eight ends and a tightly contested final, the winners were J Gurton, V Sutton, P Perrin and G Pinch.

The runners-up were B Bradshaw, R Young, D Billimore and N Barnes.

Sid Hull's daughter-in-law, Karen Hull - who has only recently become a Hillside club member herself - presented the trophy.
